The beauty of a rose,
wrapped tight within the vines,
upon my trellis waiting,
just waiting for her time.
Bursting open, petals stretch
unto the light of day.
Exploding colors all around,
for Spring has come to stay.
…and yet the rose stays silent,
her difference she perceived.
Within the bud she knows it’s true,
but will they all believe?
As days go by, she lives among them,
though hidden from their sight.
Tucked behind their blossoms
of pink, of purple, and white.
Within the bud hope withers,
now certain of her fate,
until at last she opens up.
No longer can she wait.
It’s then I glance among the blooms,
a beauty not yet seen.
A spark of brilliant red is there,
among the leaves of green.
The rose she bloomed in silence,
I did not hear a sound.
Abiding among the flowers there,
a beauty so profound.
