Motivation (a poem)

A girl in jeans and a yellow button down blouse, feeling a lack of motivation, falls over to lie on a gray couch.

(TW: Depression)

Sometimes, it eludes me
when I’m not feeling
anything really.

Sometimes I hide
from all that I know
I should be doing.

Then there’s the times
I can’t see past
all of the hurting.

All I can do
is look in the mirror
at vanity fading.

Was my motivation
all of my passion
merely reflection?

A valiant attempt
with hopes of finding
some kind of meaning?

Will it return
without all the baggage
it took when it left me?

I sit and wait,
as tightly I grasp
what remains of my soul.
