To me, punk is love. (thoughts)

A photo composite of vintage punk vinyl album sleeves from the late 1970s and early 1980s, including Ramones, The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Fall, Savage Republic, and Dead Kennedys. The overlayed image contains the silhouette of a spike-haired punk rocker jumping with one leg in front and the other bent backward at the knee. Overall the finished piece is red, orange, yellow, and black with elements that obscure the LP art behind it.

Punk is standing up to oppression wherever it is found. This is a profound act of love.

We love ourselves, our friends, and our community too much to allow someone else’s opinions to keep us down. We stand up, shout out, punch up, and don’t punch out until the message is heard loud and clear.

Punk is an act of defiance. It is putting our collective foot down and using our spirit, bodies, and voices to scream when everyone else remains silent.

We are the shout from the rooftops, the alleys, and the street corner pub.

We are revolution when and where it is needed most. We sing, shout, dance, play, create, and live the spirit of disruption, not for attention but because sometimes the system needs someone to take a stand for those who are fighting every day to breathe.

To me, punk isn’t just the way someone dresses or acts. Punk is the way we live. Punk is the way we support each other. Punk is love. 🖤
