I feel you (a poem)

A plain gold wedding Ring sits upright between two curved pages in an open Bible. Back lighting creates a shadow in the shape of a heart, which extends into the crease.

The tilt of your head,
the lilt in your voice,
the look in your eyes,
I don’t have a choice.

The words that you say,
the ones that you don’t,
the volumes unspoken,
it’s clear that you won’t.

The tears falling down,
the shock on your face,
the ring in your hand,
all seems out of place.

The hurt that you felt,
the pain that I caused,
the love that had flowed,
is a journey now paused.

The night that you left,
the emptiness there,
the darkness of silence,
love no longer shared.

The years since that day,
the blood starts to chill,
the memories linger,
I feel you still.
