Cat Sitting (a poem)

Beautiful European cat resting inside an Eiderdown (Image: Xvaldes)

Between me
and the sweet salvation
of slumber I desire,
lies the cat.

Befriending a feline,
vexed solely by my presence
is indeed daunting,
nay, impossible.

Did I mention there are three?
…cats, that is.
6 eyes, 12 paws, 60 claws
for slicing.

Did I mention I am fearful too?
Not of cats, per se.
I am concerned
for their wellbeing.

Emotional wellbeing,
mine versus theirs.
The standoff continues
within me.

NOTE: I think this is less of an actual poem and more than likely a status update with lofty ambitions.
