Crashing (a poem)

Surrounded by tiny bubbles, a woman in her bridal dress sinks deep beneath the surface of the water.

The waves are crashing over me,
while life is rushing past.
I try to stay above the water
but hope is sinking fast.

The loss is like an anchor,
tied tightly ‘round my heart.
It drags me ever deeper
and tears my soul apart.

A wave of pain slams me hard,
as another starts to crest
I turn my face toward the shore
so I cannot see the rest.

As I sink to depths below,
tossed by currents strong.
I realize I’ve lost all hope,
it didn’t take that long.

If my story seems too vague,
and you wonder what it’s about.
I’m still trapped here in my bed
unable to get out.
