This concept hit me today…
“Those who do not respect others, disrespect themselves.”
It would seem to me that when I disrespect someone, I am actually judging them. If I judge someone else, then I too must be open to that same judgment, for any one of my many flaws.
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
– Matthew 7:1-2
Thus, when we choose to disrespect another person, by pointing to their flaws, whether real or perceived, we show disrespect for the human condition. The state of imperfection we ourselves live in.
