Us versus Them (a poem)
Long after the war has ended,
it rages in our hearts.
Continually choosing sides,
is driving us apart.
Finding some small difference,
separates the two.
In the war of us and them,
it’s time for us to choose.
Long after the war has ended,
it rages in our hearts.
Continually choosing sides,
is driving us apart.
Finding some small difference,
separates the two.
In the war of us and them,
it’s time for us to choose.
When all around me crumbles,
falling apart before me,
you are my refuge.
Shelter me. Protect me.
I saw what you did.
I heard what you said.
I was there.
You can tell me anything.
I know how it hurt.
I know how you felt.
Let it go.
You can tell me anything.
a fork in the road actually represents five choices.
We can go forward in one clear direction or the other.
We can go back the way we came.
We can sit right where we are and remain comfortable…
I thought that I would sit down, and write just how I feel,
but right now, this point in time, nothing seems quite real.
The way that I was made,
the people I have known,
have all played their role,
in the way that I have grown.
All the things I’ve gone through,
the trials I have faced,
all those things, both good and bad,
have led me to this place.
