I’ve never been one for long goodbyes,
feigning sentiment that’s full of lies.
Our paths separate as we reason why,
time divides and friendships die.
So, now the time has come again,
to say goodbye to this year’s friends.
We always say, “It’s not goodbye”
as though we’ll call, at least we’ll try.
The warmth is gone, a chill has come,
as we say farewell to everyone.
All the leaves are falling now,
Goodbye Summer.
I have found, as I grow old,
things are just as they foretold.
More and more I say so long,
to those I’ve loved, that now are gone.
Though our lives are filled with change,
as seasons go we rearrange.
Growing accustomed to the ebb and flow
of all the friends who come and go.
The warmth is gone, a chill has come,
as we say farewell to everyone.
All the leaves are falling now,
Goodbye Summer.
