To be truly inspired, is to do.
(added 12/13/2022)
Inspiration can arrive anywhere, at any time, but ideas and notions are nothing more than thoughts if we don’t put action behind them. It is through action that they gain a life force of their own.
These ghostly apparitions, these vapors within the mind, are fleeting. They arrive like Hermes, delivering a message from a world beyond ours. If we choose not to accept the message, it can be forgotten as quickly as it came. The messenger carries his gift to its next destination, to someone who will give it life, who will give it wings.
No matter the nature of the inspiration, it requires a willing host to survive, a host who will take action.
I cannot and will not speak to the number of ideas I have allowed to pass through me to be employed by another. Some of these ideas were passionately explored, but I did not put them forth into the world. Inspiration abhors a vacuum. It wishes to be shared, to affect change, disrupt the status quo, or to soothe, calm, and come to the aid of those in need. It desires what we do; to be given life and fulfill its unique purpose.
The relationship between humans and inspiration is like a parent with their child. There must be commitment and understanding. You will need to adjust your priorities, learn to nurture, accept what you cannot change, and, when the time is right, release it into the world to inspire others.
How will you know when inspiration has come for you? That answer is simple. You will do.
