This is the third in a series of poems starting with my 2016 poem entitled: The Coming Storm
The tide has turned
on evil men.
Their reign of terror
at its end.
As with ballots
we defend,
Liberty of neighbors
and of friends.
Though things will never
be the same,
as they had been
before they came.
It’s become quite clear
their little game
has run its course
and who’s to blame.
A once strong country
now in blight.
Though weary are we
from the fight,
Finally may we
see the light…
and the dire importance
of human rights.
Now, let us rebuild
on what remains,
of foundations strong,
long past laid.
Honoring memories,
of those who paid,
and lessons learned from
mistakes we made.
